01Do I have to buy something at the end of a session?
No, and a large share of our sessions finish without any component being ordered. The session fee covers bench time and expertise. If the conclusion is that your existing clubs need a bend, a trim, and fresh grips, that is what we will tell you and that is what we will charge for.
02My clubs are old. Is a fitting a waste of money on them?
Usually the opposite. Older heads that are still structurally sound and have healthy grooves respond to geometry correction exactly the same way new ones do. Age matters far less than groove condition and whether the head can be bent safely. We check both before recommending anything.
03Should I clean the clubs before I come in?
Please do not. The wear pattern on the face and the scrape line on the sole are the most useful information you can bring us, and cleaning removes both. Bring the bag exactly as it sits in your car.
04How long does an appointment take?
Single-club sessions run sixty to ninety minutes depending on the club. Iron set sessions are ninety minutes. A full bag audit takes half a day and can be split across two visits if that suits you better. We cap the schedule at four sessions a day so nothing gets rushed.
05Do you fit beginners, or only experienced golfers?
Both. Beginners often benefit more, because a set that is badly matched to them will teach compensations that take years to unlearn. We keep the language plain and we do not require you to demonstrate a repeatable swing before we will measure anything.
06What if my swing changes after the fitting?
Then the specs may need revisiting, which is exactly why we keep your card on file. Golfers taking lessons should expect to come back within a season or two. The return tune-up exists for this and takes forty-five minutes.
07Can you work on clubs I bought somewhere else?
Yes. Most of the bench work we do is on clubs bought elsewhere. There is no surcharge for that and no requirement to have been fitted here first. Drop them off during posted hours.
08How often should I be regripping?
Count rounds rather than calendar years. Roughly forty to sixty rounds of use is a reasonable interval for most rubber compounds, and heavy range practice on mats accelerates it. If the surface has gone shiny or hard, it is already past due.
09How often do lofts and lies actually drift?
More than most golfers expect, particularly for anyone practising on mats. We see meaningful movement across a single active season in forged sets, and less but still measurable movement in cast heads. An annual check is sensible for anyone playing more than forty rounds.
10Can cast clubheads be bent?
Some can, within a limited range, and it depends on the alloy and the hosel design. We check the construction before touching anything and we will tell you honestly if a head is at its safe limit. Forged heads move far more freely.
11Do you carry every brand?
No, and nobody does. We stock test heads and shafts from the lines that have performed well on this bench, and we order anything else a session points to. We hold no exclusive agreements and no volume targets, so there is nothing we are obliged to steer you toward.
12Is the session fee refunded if I buy clubs?
It is credited in full against any build ordered from us within sixty days of the appointment. It applies once per session and appears as a separate line on the invoice.
13Do you fit juniors?
Yes, and we discount it. Juniors change height quickly, so we tend to recommend shorter service intervals and cheaper interim solutions rather than full custom builds that will be outgrown in a season.
14What happens to my measurements after the session?
They go on a printed card you take with you, and a copy stays in our file. The card lists every specification precisely enough that any competent builder could reproduce your clubs. We do not treat your specs as proprietary.
15Can I book service work without an appointment?
Yes. Regripping, loft and lie checks, ferrule work, and reshafts are all drop-off jobs. Bring the clubs during posted hours and we will call you with a pickup time. Only fitting sessions need a booked slot.
16What is the busiest time of year?
Fitting sessions fill up between April and June. Bench service is busiest between November and March, which is also the best window to have a set rebuilt without missing playing days.
