Five Stages, in This Order, Every Time
The sequence matters more than any individual step. Correcting geometry before comparing components is what keeps a session from turning into an expensive guessing game.
The Intake Conversation
Ten minutes, sitting down, before anything gets swung. We ask what courses you play, how often, what your typical miss looks like, and what specifically made you pick up the phone. If you have a scorecard habit or a shot-tracking app, we will look at it.
We also ask what you do not want. Some golfers arrive certain they are not changing brands, or not spending past a number. That is useful information and it shapes what we put in front of you.
Questions we always ask
- Which club do you least want to hit?
- Where does the ball finish when it goes wrong?
- How old are the clubs and where did they come from?
- Range mats, grass, or both?
- Has anything in the bag ever been measured?
The Impact Reading
Tape goes on the faces of the clubs you brought. You hit shots at a comfortable pace — not your hardest, and not a demonstration swing. We are looking for your habitual contact, so the speed you would use on a normal fairway is exactly right.
The pattern usually declares itself inside a dozen balls. We mark the centre of the cluster, note how wide it spreads vertically and horizontally, and photograph it for the file.
What a pattern tells us
- Toe-side and low: lie too flat, or club too long
- Heel-side and high: lie too upright for the setup
- Wide vertical spread: length or posture instability
- Tight but off-centre: a geometry fix, not a swing fix
- Tight and centred: move straight to component work
Machine Work
This is where most of the value lands. The loft and lie machine sits three steps from the hitting bay, so a correction takes minutes and gets tested immediately. We bend, re-tape, and re-read until the cluster moves where it should.
Length changes happen here too. Trimming a quarter inch and re-checking is far cheaper than assuming a different shaft will fix a contact problem that is really about reach.

Component Comparison
Only now do we open the wall. With the geometry sorted, differences between shafts and heads become legible instead of being drowned out by inconsistent contact. Sessions frequently end here with the conclusion that nothing needs replacing.
When a change is warranted, we build a test club to the corrected specs rather than handing you a stock demo. A demo built to someone else's numbers proves very little.

The Spec Card
You leave with a written card listing every measurement we took and every change we made. If we built something, the card lists the exact components and trim so any competent builder could reproduce it. Nothing about your set stays locked in our heads.
A copy stays in our file. When you come back, that card becomes the reference point for what has drifted.

- Grip model, core size, and tape build-up
- Shaft model, flex, raw length, tip trim

- Date, technician initials, and next check due
Before You Arrive
Do not clean the faces
The existing wear pattern is evidence. A polished face tells us nothing about the last two hundred swings.
Bring the whole bag
Even for a single-club session. Gapping only makes sense in the context of what sits either side of the club in question.
Wear your golf shoes
Posture and stance height change with footwear, and lie angle is set against your actual playing position.
The Whole Thing Takes an Afternoon
Most single-club sessions finish inside ninety minutes. Full bag audits run half a day and can be split across two visits if that suits your schedule better.
