Three People, No Sales Floor

Everyone here works the bench as well as the bay. Nobody is employed solely to sell equipment, and nobody earns commission on a component.

Marcus opened the shop in 2015 after eleven years repairing clubs in the back room of a public course pro shop just south of the city. He is the one who started measuring drop-off clubs out of curiosity, and the one who eventually knocked out the wall to build the bay.

He runs most iron and driver sessions. His particular obsession is length: he is convinced that more amateur golfers are playing clubs an inch too long than are playing the wrong shaft, and he has a filing cabinet of impact readings that make the case.

Outside the shop he plays a public course in Kentwood most Thursday evenings, with a set that has been rebuilt so many times it barely resembles what he bought.

Renata Villalobos

Bench Technician

Renata came to club building from bicycle mechanics, which turns out to be a closer match than it sounds — both involve joining components under load and both punish anyone who rushes an adhesive. She joined in her second year out of a machining programme at the local community college and now handles the majority of the repair work.

Shaft pulls, ferrule turning, epoxy joints, and swingweight matching all go through her bench. If a club leaves here rebuilt, she built it.

She is also the reason the shop keeps such careful records. The spec card system was her idea after one too many golfers came back asking what had been done to a set two years earlier.

Ford Okonkwo

Fitter & Scheduling

Ford handles wedge and putter sessions, answers the phone, and manages the appointment book. He played competitive junior golf in the area, coached at a summer programme for six seasons, and has a better feel than either of his colleagues for what a golfer is actually asking when they describe a problem badly.

His short-game sessions run long more often than they run short, mainly because he insists on seeing the shots you actually face rather than the ones a fitting protocol expects.

He is the person who will call you when your tune-up is due, and the person who will tell you honestly that it can wait another season if it can.

How we work together

Two Sets of Eyes on Every Build

Fitter reads, technician builds

The person who takes the measurements is rarely the person who assembles the club. It is a small separation but it catches mistakes.

Every build gets re-measured

Finished clubs go back on the scales and the lie machine before pickup. The card records what was measured, not what was intended.

Anyone can flag a session

If one of us thinks a recommendation is wrong, we say so before the order goes in. Nobody's judgement outranks the measurement.

Ask for Whoever Suits the Job

Mention a preference when you book and we will schedule accordingly. If you have no preference, the calendar decides.
