We start with the face, because a driver strike two centimetres toward the heel behaves like a completely different club than one struck in the middle. Once the pattern tightens, head model and shaft weight become simple choices rather than guesses.

Open the iron pageHalf of this session is spent on how the sole moves through turf. We use a strip that shows the entry point clearly, because a fairway wood that digs will never launch properly no matter what loft is stamped on it.
Open the fairway wood pageMostly a gapping exercise. We look at where your carry distances bunch up and where they leave a hole, then find the smallest number of clubs that closes it.
Open the hybrid pageBounce and grind chosen against the turf you actually play in West Michigan, plus a groove condition report on the wedges already in your bag. Worn grooves are the most common finding.
Open the wedge pageLength and lie set to your posture first, then loft adjusted so the ball starts rolling instead of hopping. Toe hang is matched to your stroke arc last.
Open the putter pageHalf a day, every club on the bench. We measure loft, lie, length, swingweight, grip size and shaft frequency for the whole set, then chart the carry gaps against those measurements. You leave with a printed report even if we change nothing.
This is the session we recommend for anyone who has assembled a bag over several years from several sources. Mismatched sets hide a surprising amount of inconsistency.
Forty-five minutes, for clients whose specs are already on file. We re-measure loft and lie, check grip condition, look at the current wear pattern against the one we recorded last time, and correct anything that has moved.
Most golfers who play more than forty rounds a season benefit from this once a year. Michigan winters and range mats are hard on equipment.
