Ninety minutes, and the session that changes the most scorecards. Lie angle gets measured against a lie board and corrected on the machine the same afternoon.
If You Only Ever Get One Fitting, Make It This One
Irons account for more full swings in a typical round than every other category combined, and they are the clubs most likely to be sitting at whatever lie angle the factory happened to produce. A set that is two degrees flat for the golfer holding it will push shots right all day and no amount of swing work will fully cancel that out.
We do not quote lie angle from a height-and-wrist-to-floor chart. Those charts describe a static body, and golf is not played standing still. We measure your delivered lie off a board and correct from that reading.
Roughly half the sets that come through this bench need at least three clubs adjusted. It is the most common finding we have.
What Gets Decided During the Session
Lie Angle, Club by Club
We tape the sole, hit off the board, and read the scrape line. A mark angled toward the toe means the club is too flat; angled toward the heel means too upright. The correction is made on the machine, the tape goes back on, and we confirm the line has straightened before moving to the next club.
Every club in the set is checked. Sets drift unevenly, especially ones that have been through a few seasons of range mats.

Loft Consistency Across the Set
Manufacturing tolerance means a stock set can arrive with a club or two a degree off its intended loft. That single degree becomes a distance gap you will feel on the course and blame on your swing. We check every head against the set's intended progression and even it out.
This is also where we catch sets that have been bent strong at some point in their past, often by a previous owner who never mentioned it.

Length and Grip Size
Length shifts the whole geometry. Add half an inch and the effective lie changes with it, which is why we never adjust one without re-measuring the other. Grip size gets checked at the same time, because a grip that is too thin encourages hand action that shows up as a heel strike.
Build-up tape is measured in wraps and recorded, so a future regrip can reproduce the same feel exactly.

Shaft and Head, If Needed
By the time geometry is right, many golfers discover their existing set is perfectly serviceable. When it is not — heads genuinely worn through their grooves, or a shaft weight class that fights the golfer's tempo — we build test clubs to the corrected specs and compare.
Steel versus graphite is decided on tempo and joint comfort, not on age or handicap.
